San Angelo Kiwanis Projects

Kids Need Kiwanis & Kiwanis Need Kids

Our Kiwanis club embodies a spirit of service and camaraderie through a diverse array of projects year-round that focus on fundraising, community outreach, and supporting children both locally and globally. Our weekly meetings feature inspiring speakers who delve into topics that resonate with our members. We also foster connections through social activities that celebrate our shared experiences and talents. Together, we create meaningful opportunities for service, friendship, and personal growth.

The San Angelo Little Olympics

Did you know the San Angelo Kiwanis Club started the San Angelo Little Olympics on April 21, 1942? Texas Historical Marker 18803 was erected in 2017 to honor this Texas legacy.

Held on the first Friday in May, students in 3rd-6th grade from San Angelo ISD and other local school districts participate in track and field events.  Schools are introduced to much fanfare, and students participate in a variety of races and field events. Students are recognized on our Little Olympics podium and receive medals for their achievements.

The San Angelo Little Olympics presents an incredible opportunity for our kids to engage in an active and joyful competition with hundreds of their peers; each year, the growing participation fosters and honors a lasting local legacy.

There are also scholarship opportunities through our Kiwanis Texas-Oklahoma District as well!

While it’s sometimes chilly, it is always a good time!

Date night sponsor: In 2025, we partnered with the City of San Angelo and contributed towards nights of dancing, snacks, door prizes and photo opportunities for kids ages 5-13. This event brought together many beautiful young ladies and their proud Dads and handsome young men and their proud Mamas.

Sophomore of the Year Scholarship: Sophomores from around the area are encouraged to submit applications to our club for review by the committee. One sophomore is selected each year for a $500 scholarship. Our club emphasizes leadership roles and personal challenges over academic achievement. The local winner will advance to the district level, where they will have the opportunity to receive an additional $600.
